I have always been fascinated by the way light interacts with objects. My focus is to look for interesting objects and arrange them to achieve the interplay of light and shadow. The goal of my work is to elevate simple objects into dramatic artistic statements.
I work in the traditional medium of oil, in a painterly representational style. Still lifes are my predominant subject but I enjoy the spontaneity and challenge of Plein Air landscapes. To capture the drama of light and atmosphere for still lifes I work under controlled lighting in the studio and for landscapes I use whatever nature provides. Painting is a passion in my life and serves as a celebration of the beauty that surrounds us.
My studies have included nationally renowned artist's chosen for their oil painting techniques and styles. They include, Gregg Kreutz, Kenn Backhaus, Kim English, and Joan Potter.
I am a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, and have shown in numerous national and regional juried exhibitions.
My wife Linda, also an artist, and I met while painting in New Mexico, and now reside in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
